Repainted in the Conrail Quality scheme, CR 715420 is part of series CR 715499-715653. It is a wood-deck flatcar originally built by Pullman-Standard in 1960 for the New York Central in series NYC 50600-506199. Penn Central renumbered them in series PC 715499-715653, which Conrail kept.

In late-1956, the Pennsylvania Railroad built 700 class F41 flatcars, placing them in series PRR 469300-469999. These were 53' GSC Commonwealth flatcars with a cast steel frame, wooden deck, and 535 sq ft platform area. As can be seen in this photo, the wooden deck got abused over the years since this car probably served in maintenance of way trains. The F41 flatcars went to Penn Central and eventually Conrail. They were in series CR 715530-716338, which included the occasional F41B and F41F classes scattered throughout it, even those cars were also in their own series. Cars from the F41A and F41D subclasses don't seem to be mixed into this series. Tracking old Conrail flatcar classes is complicated and confusing!

If you look closely through the weeds, you can see this former Penn Central F41 class flatcar with slanted CR stencils, which were used during the early days of Conrail. (The problem with photographing flatcars from the side is that they are just so...flat.)

We have no idea what was inside the plywood container on top of CR 716355, but hopefully no one sent it over a hump yard. The F41D class seem to be in their own series of CR 716339-716387.

In mid-1969, Erie Lackawanna had Magor build 100 51' steel-frame flatcars with low deck-end bulkheads. Originally, they were in series EL 8200-8299. These became Conrail class FE51D flatcars. CR 750030 was part of FE51D series CR 750020-750068. CR 750030 is seen here with CR 0030, a container designed for transporting aerospace parts.
