Conrail
Penn Central, Erie Lackawanna, and Reading Company owned a variety of gondolas and dedicated cars for hauling coil steel. Conrail repainted and renumbered many of these cars and had their own classes. Find out more about coil steel cars in this gallery.
Survivors
During the early years, many coil steel classes from predecessors like Penn Central, New York Central, and Reading Company survived in service in their original paint schemes and numbers. This gallery will feature photos of those coil steel cars that survived onto Conrail.
