EMD F-7A: Paint Roster

Railfanning during the early days of Conrail saw a number of old locomotive models still slaving away in service. Though at one time the Penn Central and Erie Lackawanna rosted a large number of F-7A's, by the time Conrail was formed only a hodge-podge of units survived. Being old and worn out, most F-7A's found themselves retired and cut up quickly. The only unit painted in blue was 1648/1792, though it never had a Conrail logo applied.
These repaint rosters are my attempt to discover how long a predecessor ran in its original paint scheme and when Conrail painted it blue for the first time. All dates listed are the earliest and latest the unit was seen in that paint scheme. Dates often change as new photos are examined. If I know for certain that a date is the absolute earliest or latest, then I mention this in the notes. This is a constant work in progress aimed at helping those of us who model the transition era get our consists looking reasonably accurate for blue, stenciled, and original paint scheme ratios.

1. Renumbered in 1979 to CR 1792 in anticipation of ordered GP-15-1's. Only F7 to get blue paint, which was applied while numbered
1648. For a while it didn't have any markings, but got CR initials while still 1648. Retired January 1979.
