C-430 Conrail inherited a total of two C-430's from the Reading Company and ten from the Penn Central, which were former New York Central units. They were assigned to series CR 2048-2059 but only lasted a few years on Conrail. By the early 1980's, these units along with many aging predecessor locomotives were sold to other railroads or sold for scrap.

Comprehensive ALCo C-430 Roster

The roster below is comprehensive for ALCo C-430's when they arrived from Conrail's predecessors on April 1, 1976 until their last day of service on Conrail in the early 1980's. The roster includes each unit's first disposition when known. A special thanks to Conrail Motive Power Review: Volume 1 by Gordon Lloyd, Jr., and Louis A. Marre for roster information.
