This former Penn Central U25B was in rough shape before it came to Conrail. The black paint covering the white sill from its New York Central days was wearing off while it had been wearing Penn Central heralds. CR 2531 is here with two other former Penn Central U-boats.

This is an interesting situation. The photo of CR 2571 above was taken prior to Roger's. With the EL emblem still on the nose, you would think that this photo would have been taken earlier. Here are the tip-offs that this photo was taken later. First, CR 2571 has a cab signal box by this time. Also, the paint blocking the long hood's EL logo has been peeling off. How about the EL logo? Simple--someone took paint thinner and removed the paint from the stencil job. This happened to some RDG engines as well. Finally, Roger points out that CR 2571 was retired in this paint scheme.
