This would be a classic Conrail paint-out scheme for any former Penn Central locomotive--black spray paint over the old logo with the old PC number still intact because it retained its number on the Conrail roster. However, look at the front battery box cover; it was taken off a Reading Company U30C, complete with its RDG classification.

A repainted Penn Central unit, the CR 2751 shines in its new Conrail blue. The box on top of the cab signal equipment behind the cab appears to be a mesh box used to carry a spare knuckle to be used for on the road repairs.

CR 2771 is on passenger duty this day in 1978, along with a Penn Central E8. We're looking nort at the old station while standing at the intersection of 6th Ave and Memorial Drive. The station is still used today. Riley Park sits directly behind the station.
