Not too far from its pre-Conrail haunt, CR 9302 (former Reading Company 2702 in CR stencils) is lashed up with sister unit CR 9301 (former Reading Company 2701 in CR stencils).

Even though the old Reading Company herald in Railroad Roman font can be seen along the long hood underneath the black paint and CR stencils, some changes have been made to the former Reading Company 2708, now Conrail 9308. Notice how Conrail repainted parts of the handrails from the original yellow the Reading Company used on their VO1000M's to the white that Conrail applied to their locomotives.

Time has finally caught up with CR 9308 (former RDG 2708). By this time in 1980, the locomotive had been placed in the dead line waiting to be scrapped. The battery boxes are open, and the locomotive has donated its batteries to help other locomotives that were still active.

During the crazy heydays of early Conrail in the 1970's, a select few locomotives got the large Conrail herald minus the steel wheels on steel rails. Thankfully, the logo Conrail became famous for became the standard instead of what we see here in paint-out form.

RDG 2713 was the only Reading Company VO1000M to be repainted in the solid green with yellow trim paint scheme from the 1970's. It also lacks the standard spark arrestors, but still has its can antenna. Here we see it with its Conrail number and CR stencils applied over the painted-out heralds.
