SD70MAC Like the SD70's, the 4,000hp SD70MAC's originally began as an order for SD80MAC's. But during acquisition talks of Conrail between Norfolk Southern and CSX, CSX changed their part of the order SD70MAC's built to CSX specifications. As a result, the SD70MAC was the second and last locomotive class to wear the Conrail "white-face" scheme. And so marked the end of the railroad as an independent Class 1 operator. These units were the last to wear Conrail's 'white-face' scheme.

Comprehensive SD70MAC Roster

The roster below is comprehensive for Conrail's SD70MAC, which were purchased beginning in March 1998 and survived on roster until 1999, when they were renumbered for CSX. It contains up to their second CSX renumbering but ends there. This roster is based on information from X2200South issue #116. Thanks to John Durant for additional info.
