Lead unit of HBBE (Harrisburg, PA - Bethlehem, PA) pulling out of Reading Yard. Note the worn black anti-glare/skid paint on the nose roof; this seemed typical of these units. Also note that the nose access door is now on the engineer's side, unlike the SD-60M, which had it on the conductor side. This really is one of my favorite elevated photos I took of these units. A nice overhead shot of these locomotives. Please Conrail modelers. Conrail engines were always filthy. I called them the Southern Pacific of the East. Great overhead shot of an SD-60I showing all the details and weathering. Dang, but this looks like a model! If only we could get such realism. This just happens to be the angle we see many layouts. Imagine watching trains all day from only this angle. My favorite layouts move from these angles up closer to eye level and back down again, especially those layouts trying to model mountain areas like Altoona. Just a thought.
