In 1974, the Reading Company began leasing 10 MP15DC's from EMD and passed them to Conrail in 1976. These units were built in December 1974 and proved to be highly reliable, powered with EMD's supercharged V-12 645 prime mover that produced 1,500hp. At the end of the MP15DC's lease in December 1989, Conrail returned them to EMD. From there they were sold off to other railroads and continue running well into the 2000's.
