ALCo introduced the 2,000hp RS-32 in 1961, ending its production the next year with only 32 units having been manufactured. The RS-32 rides on four-wheel AAR Type B trucks. By 1979, only six Conrail RS-32's were still on active roster: Conrail #2028, #2029, #2031, #2035, #2040, and #2042. A few years later, all were retired or scrapped. This photo of Conrail #2031 was taken when it had been sold to the Maryland & Delaware Railroad in 1982.
