The 'single-stripe' scheme was the one of the final schemes the Lehigh Valley applied to its fleet of switchers and road switchers, such as Lehigh Valley #214 taken several months after Conrail.

Unfortunately, only four of the Lehigh Valley RS-2's survived onto Conrail: LV 213, LV 214, LV 217, and LV 218. Originally, LV 218 was Chesapeake & Ohio RS-1 5501, which went to the LV after only a year of service on the C&O. The same happened with C&O RS-1 5500.

Conrail 5203 (former Lehigh Valley #218) got its CR stencils by the end of 1977. Whoever was responsible for paiting out the Lehigh Valley heralds and appplying Conrail numbers and stencils seems to have "forgotten" to paint out the old Lehigh Valley "218" on the top of the nose.
