A great modeling article on these units. A really nice weathering job also.
    • xPC 8110

  • "Lehigh Valley GP-38 and GP-38-2 Painting," Scott Given. Mainline Modeler. Aug 87, 36-39
The GP-38-2 is easy using the Athearn model in the article. The GP-38AC is more difficult since it uses an old Atlas GP-38-2 shell as a kitbash start. Good photos plus reprints of official EMD 'styling and painting' diagrams.
    • LV 311, 313, 316, 321, 322

  • "Lehigh Valley: Modeling The GP-38 & GP-38-2, Jim Six." Mainline Modeler. Feb 87, 27-.
The GP-38-2 is easy using the Athearn model in the article. The GP-38AC is more difficult since it uses an old Atlas GP-38-2 shell as a kitbash start. I like Jim's use of open hood doors on the GP-38AC model.
    • LV 313, 321, 322

  • "Modeling a Lehigh Valley GP-38-2," Jim Six. PM. Jan 86, 21-37.
Jim's first try at modeling an LV GP-38-2 using the Athearn shell and Cannon&Co parts. The Mainline Modeler article above is probably better and easier to find. This is more a review of the new Athearn model combined with a detailing poject. Many nice photos.

  • "Paint & Decals: Kato HO Scale GP-35 (EMD xCR 182 GP-40)," Mike Rose. Railmodel Journal. Oct 96, 7.
This is totally bogus because the prototype unit is a GP-40 but the model is a GP-35! Still the photo of the xCR unit is pretty cool.
    • EMD (xCR) 182

  • "Conrail Returns a Favorite Prototype: Conrail nee Reading GP-35," Ed Sanicky. Model Railroading. Jan 94, 24+.
Using a Rail Power Products GP-35 shell instead of the inaccurate Athearn shell. A very good article applicable to CR or RDG modeling. Most photos are of former PC units.
