- "Alco RS-32-DL721," John Nelson. Mainline Modeler. Nov 88, 36-40.
General prototype overview of the locomotive, with roster and photos. HO diagram of the SP version.
- "New York Central RS-32," John Nelson. Mainline Modeler. Feb 89, 44-47.
Not exactly an article on Conrail's RS-32's. The only railroads to order the RS-32 were the SP and the NYC. The NYC units passed onto PC, then onto CR. B&W photos of NYC units and HO diagrams.
- "Alco DL640: RS-27," John Nelson. Mainline Modeler. May 88, 60-64.
A detailed look at the RS-27 and its demonstration units, with HO diagrams, rosters, and photos. Deals with PRR and PC, but not CR. Photos and diagrams are good for modeling early CR at least.
- PRR 2407, PRR 2411, PC 2401
- "Alco RSD-15: The Alligator," Robert Hundman & John Nelson. Mainline Modeler. Feb 88, 58-63.
No proto info given, but does include detailed rosters, scale diagrams, and photos. Useful really for PRR, but gives a good idea.
- "Detailing and Painting an Atlas/Kato RS-11 as PC 7605," Jim Six. Model Railroading. Oct 98, 50+.
- "Diesel Detail: Lehigh Valley RS-11," Rich Picariello. Model Railroading. Sept 98, 50-52.
Brief proto info, decals, and parts list.
- LV 400, 403, xLV 7643 still in LV logo.
- "Alco RSD-7 & 15: DL 600, 600A & 600B," John Nelson. Mainline Modeler. Jan 88, 58-63.
Overview of the prototype. Most of this article deals with the RSD-7 (the RSD-15's photos and roster are covered in the following issue).
- "Alco's RSD-4 and RSD-5: The 'Sure-Footed' Road Switcher," Paul K. Withers. Diesel Era. March/April 98, 11+.
A detailed look at these two locomotives. Covers all owners, includes diagrams and rosters. Covers the PRR/PC/CR RSD-5, plus the CNJ RSD-4 and RSD-5's, which never made it into Conrail. Al photos b&w, except one. No CR photos, but some CNJ, PRR, and PC.
- "Diesel Detail: Alco RS-3 as EL #925." Model Railroading. Mar/Apr 84, 47.
I don't own this issue. Any details would be appreciated.
- "Detailing a Conrail RS-3M," Stephan M. Koenig. Railroad Model Craftsman. May 02, 52+.
Modeling the engine in N scale. Has several prototype photos.
- "Conrail's RS-3M: Modified For Modern Use With EMD Parts." Railroad Model Craftsman. Dec 85, 75-77.
Some brief background on these units. Builds an HO model of an Altoona rebuild, needing only small modifications. Uses an Atlas RS-3 model, but says the Stewart is just as good.
- CR 9952, CR 9907, CR 9933
- "The DeWitt Geep--EMD Power In An RS-3," Alfred Gorney. Railroad Modeler. May 77, 42+.
I don't own this issue. Any details would be appreciated.
- "Reading RS-3s," Paul Withers. Diesel Era. July/Aug 02, 33+.
When an RS-1 was not an RS-1.
- "Paint Shop: Central RR Of New Jersey RS-3 In HO Scale," Chuck Davis. Model Railroader. March 93, 156-58.
Brief proto background. Details a Stewart RS-3. Painting info for CNJ striped scheme.
- "Converting a Model Die Casting Alco RS-3 into an RS-2 Road Switcher," Guilford Mack. Model Railroader. Oct 88, 96-97.
Pretty much what the title says. Mack creates 2 LV RS-2's.
- "Alco's RS-2 Road Switcher," Jim Hediger. Model Railroader. Oct 88, 98-99.
Overview of the prototype.
- LV 210 b&w, LV 218 b&w, NYC 8200 b&w
