In May 2005, Atlas introduced their version of the MP-15DC in N scale. Unlike the notoriously incorrect Con-Cor version that had been the sole MP-15 available for decades, the Atlas model is as correct as we are probably going to get in N scale. Offered prepainted in Reading Company green, the model comes with the correct long hood with square air filter box sitting on the top.Available road numbers are RDG 2771 and RDG 2775, plus un-numbered. This accounts for 20% of the Reading's MP-15DC fleet. Unlike a true Reading Company modlerer, an early-Conrail modeler can either run the units in their original RDG numbers, or he can paint out the RDG logos and numbers, replacing them with the CR stencils and numbers. He could also run some in RDG and some in CR stencils.
In January 2006, Atlas announced that they would be taking reservations for a new run of paint schemes scheduled for June 2006 delivery. Thankfully, Conrail will be among their offerings, with predecorated models for CR 9624 and CR 9626. CR 9624 if former RDG 2774, whereas CR 9626 if former RDG 2776. Neither of these CR road numbers conflict with the RDG numbers Atlas currently offers. Conrail was not quick to repaint these units, with most lasting into at least 1980 in their original RDG paint with CR stencils.
