ALCo C-420: Locomotive Roster
Conrail Cyclopedia Quality!

CR C-420 The Lehigh & Hudson River was the only railroad to contribute the C-420 to Conrail in 1976, with a total of 6 units from a total of 9. The units lacked dynamic brakes, rode on AAR Type-B trucks, and full classification lights. From personal experience, most if not all of the units stayed on the eastern portion of the system, based out of terminals such as Bethlehem, PA, and Warwick, NY. Former L&HR 21 was eventually repainted blue and renumbered CR 2072, but only got CR initials on the nose and no logo.

The roster below covers those units operated by Conrail between April 1976 and the retirement of the final unit. Since all units were retired before June 1999, none were transferred to CSX and Norfolk Southern.
